Armodavinil 150 mg is a medication commonly used to treat the following conditions: Obstructive Sleep Apnea, a disorder that happens when your breathing stops and starts while you sleep because your airways get blocked; Narcolepsy, a condition when your’s brain control of the sleep-wake cycle is not working; Shift Work Disorder, a condition involving trouble sleeping due to odd shifts. It is usually taken with or without food.
MECHANISM OF ACTION
Primary mechanism:
- Armodafinil inhibits the dopamine transporter (DAT), blocking dopamine reuptake and increasing extracellular dopamine levels in the brain, particularly in regions like the nucleus accumbens and striatum.
Other neurochemical effects:
- Increases extracellular glutamate and decreases GABA (an inhibitory neurotransmitter) in certain brain regions, shifting the balance toward excitation/arousal.
- Activates orexin/hypocretin neurons in the hypothalamus, another system critical for maintaining wakefulness.
- May modestly affect norepinephrine signaling in the CNS, though this is less central to its action than with traditional stimulants.

- CYP2C19 substrates: Modafinil inhibits CYP2C19 and may increase the plasma concentrations of drugs such as phenytoin, diazepam, propranolol and some antidepressants (e.g., clomipramine).
- CNS-active drugs: Use caution if taking other stimulants, MAO inhibitors, or other drugs affecting dopamine pathways.

CONCLUSION
Armodafinil 150 mg is generally considered a standard starting dose for conditions like narcolepsy, obstructive sleep apnea, and shift work disorder, but “standard” doesn’t mean “right for everyone.” Response to the medication varies quite a bit from person to person, and factors like liver function, other medications, and the specific condition being treated all play a role in whether 150 mg is appropriate or whether a physician might adjust it up or down. Use the medication under the supervision of a healthcare provider.

Daniel Martinez –
Best for long days. Effects lasted longer than others I’ve tried. Felt focused and awake with less crashing. Would recommend.
